In the year 1937 Mendine Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. was established in a small way in Calcutta as a packaging industry dealing in pharmaceuticals and other chemicals, with quite humble resources in men and capital.
After continuing the business for several years Production of general pharmaceuticals and a few proprietary items was commenced on a small scale in 1950.

Products such as Meplon Iron Tonic, Mendine Ointment and various types of syrup and tincture spirit were initiated. A few years later, the company started production of an enzyme namely Carmozyme. Since then, substantial progress has been made in goodwill and resources, enabling the purchase of spacious land in the vicinity of Calcutta at Maheshtala in the year 1961. A full-fledged laboratory office of the company was constructed with modern equipment and instruments, and production began in 1964. The company shifted their entire production from 34, Alipore Road to Maheshtala, Dakghar, South 24 Parganas, at its factory as well. In the year 1975, the company became a Ltd. company and transferred Mendine Pharmaceuticals Works to Mendine Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. The company had started regional offices in several provinces in India to tackle the ever-increasing demand for their products.

The brand Carmozyme, owned by Mendine Pharmaceuticals, which is not only one of the leading enzyme liquids in the country but is also considered to be a living tradition in the Pharma industry. In the meantime, the company has extended its dosage formulation from liquids to tablets and has widened its activity by out-sourcing its product from ultra-modern manufacturing units which match global standards. With a view of continuous development, the company has made a tie-up arrangement for research and development was made with a recognized institute of pharmacy and the most advanced testing laboratories across the country.
